Interview with Miguel Ivorra





q)What is your earliest art-related memory?


a)My grandfather used to make wood's toys with his hands and a knife.

I remember his strong hands and his ability of building things just from the tree’s branches.


q) Who has had the greatest influence on your work?


a)I suppose Andy Warhol and Disney.


q) What are the main tools of your craft?


a)A pencil, brushes, acrylics and watercolours


q) Is a formal education important?


a)I will let you know what I think after finished my art foundation course.


q) What is the biggest misconception about art?


a)The relationship between big size and art. Most of the beautiful pieces of art I have seen are really small.


q) Which is more important in art - concept or execution?


a)Both together,if I have to choose I would say execution


q) What theme or aesthetic are you most drawn too?


a)Both as well, if I have to choose I would say esthetic


q) What is your favorite piece of art in your home?


a)A Diana Martin's photography.


q) If you could collaborate with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?


a)Leonardo Da Vinci


q) Which emerging artist do you think more people should know about?


a)I really like Marcel Dzama


q) What has been your greatest achievement to date?


a)look back and see everything I've done


q) What has been your biggest roadblock?


a)The bureaucracy, someone from the minister of Art and Culture in Madrid told me the bureaucracy is the frontier of art, and it was the end of my project.


q) How do you define success?


a)when you are able to do what you want, this is the taste of success.


q) What will be the name of your autobiography?


a)“When the words are not enough”, It would be more drawings than sentences.


q)What is the best piece of (art-related) advice you’ve ever been given?


a)Carry on working!
